How to Unblock Someone on Venmo in the App

To unblock someone on Venmo, open the app, go to Settings, then Privacy, and you’ll find your blocked users list there. The whole process takes about 30 seconds once you know where to look.

How to Unblock Someone in the Venmo App

Venmo keeps your blocked users list tucked inside the Privacy settings rather than on any individual profile page. Here’s the path to follow:

  • Open the Venmo app and tap the menu icon (the three horizontal lines or your profile picture, depending on your device) to access your account options.
  • Tap Settings (the gear icon).
  • Tap Privacy. This is the section where Venmo manages who can see your transactions and who you’ve blocked.
  • Find your blocked users list. You’ll see the accounts you’ve previously blocked listed here.
  • Tap the user you want to unblock and confirm the action when prompted.

Once you unblock someone, they can send you payment requests, pay you, and find your profile in search again. You won’t automatically become friends on Venmo, so if you were connected before, you may need to add each other again.

Why You Can’t Find the Option on a Profile

A common point of confusion is searching for the person’s profile to unblock them. When you block someone on Venmo, their profile essentially disappears from your view, and yours disappears from theirs. You won’t be able to look them up in the search bar while they’re blocked. That’s why Venmo routes the unblock action through the Privacy settings menu instead of through any individual profile page.

What Happens After You Unblock Someone

Unblocking restores the normal connection between your two accounts. The person you unblocked can now see your public transactions (based on your privacy settings), send you payments, and request money from you. They won’t receive a notification that you unblocked them.

Keep in mind that unblocking is immediate, but it doesn’t undo anything from the period when the block was active. Any payment requests they tried to send while blocked won’t suddenly appear in your inbox. If you need to complete a transaction with this person, one of you will need to initiate a new payment or request after the unblock goes through.

If you decide you need to block the person again later, you can do so from their profile page at any time. There’s no waiting period or limit on how many times you can block and unblock the same account.
