Wax Specialist Resume Example & Writing Guide

Use this Wax Specialist resume example and guide to improve your career and write a powerful resume that will separate you from the competition.

A wax specialist is an aesthetician who specializes in providing waxing services. Waxing is a popular method of hair removal because it’s fast, effective, and less painful than other methods like shaving or laser hair removal.

Waxing can be done on almost any part of the body, but it’s most commonly used on arms, legs, bikini lines, and eyebrows. Because waxing is such a specialized service, many salons employ dedicated wax specialists who are trained to perform a variety of waxing techniques.

If you’re interested in working in the beauty industry but aren’t sure where to start, consider applying for a position as a wax specialist. Here are some tips and an example resume to help you write yours.

How to Write a Wax Specialist Resume

Here’s how to write a resume of your own.

Write Compelling Bullet Points

Bullet points are the most effective way to showcase your experience and qualifications. But rather than simply listing your responsibilities, you can make your bullet points much more interesting and compelling by using specific numbers and metrics.

For example, rather than saying you “managed inventory for retail store,” you could say that you “reduced inventory levels from $150K to $90K in six months, contributing to a 20% increase in quarterly profits.”

The second bullet point is much more interesting and provides a clear sense of the impact of the candidate’s work.

Identify and Include Relevant Keywords

When you submit your resume for a wax specialist role, it’s likely that it will be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for certain keywords. ATS programs rank resumes based on the relevance of each candidate’s skills to the job opening. If your resume doesn’t include enough of the right keywords, your application might not make it past the initial screening process.

The best way to identify the keywords you should include on your resume is to read through the job posting and take note of the terms that are repeated most often. Then, use those same terms throughout your resume when you’re describing your relevant work experience and skills.

Here are some commonly used keywords for wax specialist roles:

  • Waxing
  • Hair Removal
  • Hair Care
  • Skin Care
  • Eyelash Extensions
  • Cosmetology
  • Makeup Artistry
  • Skin Care Products
  • Body Waxing
  • Hair Styling
  • Permanent Makeup
  • Pedicures
  • Waxing Eyebrows
  • Fashion
  • Manicures
  • Cosmetics
  • Makeovers
  • Massage
  • Eyebrow Threading
  • Makeovers
  • Hair Coloring
  • Microneedling
  • Hair Coloring
  • Facials
  • Waxing Services
  • Waxing Eyelashes
  • Threading
  • Lash Extensions
  • Rejuvenation
  • Therapeutic Massage

Showcase Your Technical Skills

As a wax specialist, you need to be proficient in the use of waxing products and techniques. You should also be familiar with the various types of waxes available on the market, as well as the pros and cons of each. Additionally, it’s important to be familiar with the anatomy of the skin and hair, as this knowledge is essential for providing a safe and effective waxing service.
